Anthropic is the AI safety company behind Claude, founded in 2021 by ex-OpenAI researchers Dario and Daniela Amodei. Backed by Amazon and Google with over $15 billion in funding, it positions itself as the safety-focused counterweight to OpenAI and is one of only a handful of labs training frontier models.
